Meatloaf is a very popular dish in many countries around the globe. It’s very old, too. The recipe is mentioned in the first known cookbook Apicius, back in Roman times, in 5th century.
But, although it has European origins, Meatloaf became an American kitchen classic. It’s as American as apple pie.
In this recipe, I’ll add one more American ingredient to the list: the turkey meat. But it’s not the main reason – turkey meat is a much healthier alternative to beef. And barbecue sauce is here just to spice up the things a bit more, to add flavor and moisture to this family-favorite dinner dish.
